She had come across the position on LinkedIn after having it recommended to her based on matching proficiencies and experiences. Her husband, who shared the experience with a popular online community for workplace discussion, explained that the candidate thought she had followed the advised application steps, which consisted of applying through the platform and separately sending the answers to three questions via email.
Whether or not the interviewing manager just failed to match her answers to her application is uncertain, but the candidate soon received a seemingly automated, passive-aggressive, and patronizing message that stated the company was only interested in people who “actually read the job description," which appeared to be intended to encourage only “seriously” interested candidates to proceed. The whole thing just came across poorly… If they speak to candidates that way, one can only imagine how they speak to their employees!
